11:45 am – 1:15 pm | Believing in Yourself: Gettin’ in the Game of Life – Presentation by Perry Parker
Perry’s dad was his teacher and coach in life. He inspired Perry in many different ways and led Perry to believe in himself as capable of success. One day while Perry was at basketball practice, his dad put motivational signs around Perry’s room. Some were: “Nothing is contagious as enthusiasm”, “Impossible is a word found in the dictionary of fools” and Perry’s favorite, “I will study and get ready and perhaps my chance will come.” Perry’s parents allowed him to be in control of what he wanted to do, but guided him toward making wise decisions. His parents also introduced Perry to golf, which became not only his passion but his profession. Hemophilia is only a part of your life; it does not define you. Come meet Perry and receive a personally autographed golf ball.

Perry Parker
Pro-golfer, golf instructor, national spokesperson and motivational speaker. In his own words: “I think I’m a very lucky guy—but I’m also a firm believer that we make our own luck. As I grew up with hemophilia A, my doctors and nurses were always telling me I couldn’t do things, particularly when it came to sports. But my parents wanted my brother (who also has hemophilia) and me to have the freedom to make our own good choices. So, with their emotional support and encouragement, I pushed myself to explore what I could do. That led me to a lifelong love of golf. When I started playing golf professionally, I was reluctant to tell the other players about my hemophilia. I didn’t want them to think less of me because of it. But when I finally did talk to them about it, I found out that was not the case. They were supportive. Since then, I’ve been open about sharing my experiences with others. I’m proud to represent the bleeding disorder community.
