Celebration of Life
Lest we forget: we commemorate and pay tribute to the trailblazers of our community who have passed. This celebration gives family and friends a special time to celebrate the loved ones who lost their lives due to complications related to hemophilia and other bleeding disorders.
Carletha Gates, PhD, HS-BCP
Dr. Gates is a true servant leader in the bleeding disorders community. She has dedicated over three decades to serving as an educator and staunch advocate for hemophilia and bleeding disorders families across the globe. She has worked on numerous Boards, committees and task forces over the years. She currently serves on the HFA Board of Director’s Executive committee, the History committee, and the Medical Advisory.
Dr. Gates is the Founder of the United Hemophilia Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable organization serving people with hemophilia and other rare inherited bleeding disorders in Georgia, her home state. Her passion and motivation has always been to educate, advocate and bring about awareness to promote the health, wellness and overall quality of life for families living with hemophilia and other rare bleeding disorders. She is the mother of two sons with severe hemophilia, and she and her two daughters have a mild diagnosis. Her father had severe hemophilia and she was inspired to establish the Foundation as a tribute in memory of her deceased parents and nephew, each who were affected by hemophilia-related complications.
Dr. Gates holds a Doctorate in Human Services, a Master’s in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. She is a Board Certified Human Services Practitioner, a Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor and a Personal Development Coach.
